This is a dreadful night in December 2009. In the past 24 hours, Pakistanis have been gripped by fear resulting from five suicide attacks and bomb blasts in three cities from north to centre to south of the country, killing and maiming 100's of children, women and men (over 500 lives lost in an attack nearly every 48 hour since October). In the same 24 hours, there have been deaths resulting from train derailment, roof collapse, factory fires.
At the same time, sugar has long disappeared from shops for both the rich and the poor. Prices of each commodity have risen to a level where it is out for reach for common citizen. Nearly every road is broken and most are in a shambles. Police and the army, instead of establishing the rule of law, are the target of suicide attacks and their men are worried about their own lives. The country's president, infamously known for every crime and sin that is possible for a human being, instead of dealing with this ongoing carnage, is more worried about his fate and runaway after the court is hearing his graft accumulation of billions of dollars.
We have also seen new faces and new groups of people coming and ruling with an agenda or promise of a change, but they were the same people: morally and financially corrupt. Even as we speak, there are people who are talking about the incompetence of the current leaders and want to replace them. Are they any different? Remove the masks from their faces, and they are the same.
Agreed that there are foreign elements behind this bloodshed and they are bent on harming all of us. But what's our role in that?
The big question is what we have done to deserve these killings, bloodshed and such leadership while other countries in the region are in peace. The short answer is: everything. In one word: Injustice. How have we reached this conclusion? Not out of a human judgment. This is what the Quran and Hadith tell us. And we are going to share that with you in the pages that follow.
Tehreek-e-Adl (Justice Movement) is an advocacy and reform group run by concerned volunteers in Pakistan and overseas Pakistanis. This group encourages communities and members to try to do justice with everyone and everything 24/7. In every action they take.
We expect that by doing this, we will be able to save ourselves from this ongoing carnage in our society which we have earned in the past 62 years of individual and collective wrongdoing and zulm (the opposite of adl).
We aim to send a message to Allah that we have sinned in every aspect of our life but we are seeking His forgiveness and ready to change our lifestyles – from a violator's to a just Muslim. That we are ready to do justice in every role we play.
Pakistan has seen many religious, political or reform movements which aimed at providing justice at the leadership or state level. That didn't happen in the 62 years of our life! We forgot that the leader are only a reflection of the masses. We as masses have broken every aspect of justice; how could we develop leaders who would do any better?
The Tehreek encourages people to do justice, an often ignored area. 24/7.
Today's Pakistan is marred by a suicide attacks nearly every day. There's absolutely no rule of law, with even basic commodities like sugar, electricity, wheat and vegetables out of access of everyone – rich and poor. Ordinary men and women are deprived of their mobile phones, money and cars every day on the streets of Karachi. Rapes are rampant in rural areas everywhere.
There's a large-scale intervention by foreign powers in Pakistan's affairs with thousands of Pakistanis available for sale for a few dollars or promise of a political influence.
Tehreek-e-Adl asks you to do justice with everyone and everything 24/7. Be it Allah, your God, or people; be it animals or environment, be it your workplace or business, be it public sphere or your private home. Wherever we are, we do justice in every role we play. Consciously. And even at an unconscious level.
We expect that by doing this, Allah will be kind to us once again, and this carnage and bloodshed will stop.
It's very fundamental that we fear something in order to do right and stop from wrong. At times, country's laws ensure this. At other times, fear of Allah does this. In the absence of any rule of law in the country, we need to fear something. This could only be God. Only that can keep us from injustice in spite of having power to abuse others! This is particularly true for an Islamic country like Pakistan.
The basis...
If people follow Allah's ahkam and limits, Allah makes those places fertile. In Ahsanat-uq-Qaseem Maarafatul Aqaleem, Allama Muqaddasi (died 375 Hijri) writes about the region of Haital in Aqleem-e-Mashriq: The area of Haital is the greenest and crop-bearing that all of the places on earth, created by Allah.
We get several hints from our history:
Inspirational story: A [city] nazim writes to Caliph Hazrat Umar bin Abdul Aziz saying: The city is in a shambles; please send more funds. Hazrat Umar responds, ‘Repair the city with taqwa (fear of Allah), clean the streets from zulm (injustice).'

Yes, it is a political movement; but not a political party. The challenge of bringing people to do justice is so huge that it's beyond the capacity of one party. We'd resist the temptation of forming a party. We'll appeal to all God-fearing elements in all political and religious parties that they spread the message within their parties and communities so peace and prosperity return to the country.
Yes. This is a Tehreek started by Muslims and aimed at majority Muslim population in this country. Muslims, despite having the knowledge, are the major and deliberate violator of Allah's limits. However, minorities in Pakistan also have a constructive role to play – to bring awareness of justice to their communities – Hindu, Sikh, Christian, Parsi, will be included in the TA umbrella.
No. The message is aimed at all sects of Muslims – Sunni, Shia. Similarly, all reliogio-political parties like Jamaat-e-Islami, Tanzeem-e-Islami, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam, Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakistan and Tableeghi Jamaat will be encouraged to spread this message in their members.
